PES visited Armourgeddon Tanks to collect scanned data of an M8 Armoured Car as used by Brad Pitt in the 2014 blockbuster movie "Fury". The armoured vehicle is one of many popular historic war exhibitions situated in the museum and for that reason many visitors have requested to buy a scaled down model of the vehicle seen or driven at this unique facility.
Utilising the Leica AT960 and T-Scan 5, PES were able to collect over 210,000 points per second at an accuracy of 0.1mm. Using reference drift nests and an SMR the laser tracker could be moved to positions around the vehicle allowing all areas to be covered in the scan. Once all scanning was complete, a polygonal model was created from the resultant point cloud data.
