Over the past 39 years PES have worked on a large variety of renewable energy projects and have experienced the growth of this sector from the installation of new test facilities, to the component inspection of wind turbine blades and transition piece foundations. PES offer dimensional measurement services on and offshore of foundations for accurate height, PCD and level surveying.
January 2016 PES UK installed and measured 97 wind turbine load rings using 2 x Leica AT401 laser trackers at the Kilgallioch wind farm, Scotland. Using a 1.5” reflector PES measured points around the ring, a relationship was made to compare these points to a gravity plane.
A vector plot was created for the customer to show the overall level of the anchor ring. The height of each anchor bolt was recorded. These heights could then be individually reported or a best fitted plane could be created through all the measured bolt points.
